Our Board of Directors consists of five passionate electric vehicle champions who bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to EVA England. Made up entirely of volunteers from various backgrounds and various parts of England, they are unified by a vision to accelerate the transition to an electric England.

Bridget Phelps

Chair, drives a Nissan LEAF

Bridget has over 30 years’ experience mainly in the charity and statutory sectors. She was Head of UK Operations at WaterAid as it started and grew to over £1 million in income and Head of Social Policy at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. She has been Chair of the Mid Hampshire Primary Care Trust in the NHS, and a Board member at Radian Housing Association.

Bridget has been a Nissan LEAF driver since 2013 inspired by her husband and lives in Hampshire. She hopes that EVA England will help many other drivers on their electric journey, actively guiding them as they buy or lease a new or second-hand EV.

Dr Alan Cooklin

Vice Chair, drives a Kia e-Niro

Alan has served as a consultant family psychiatrist in the NHS for 45 years, where he ran an innovative unit, and combined clinical work with teaching and writing. For the past 20 years he has focused on family psychiatry, and has also authored academic publications, founded the mental health charity Our Time, and established and directed two additional charities.

Alan had been considering becoming an electric vehicle owner for almost ten years and eventually purchased a BMW i3 in early 2017. He quickly became a great enthusiast for both the pleasure and ease of driving his fully battery electric car, at the same time as becoming a determined champion for the improvement of air quality, and interventions to counter climate change. Alan is also passionate about renewable energy and generates his own power.

Rolle Nieminen

Hyundai Ionic 5

Rolle has over 15 years in the automotive industry across various European countries. He is currently a consultant for Groupe PSA (Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Opel and Vauxhall) and has worked for suppliers in account and service management roles for brands such as PSA, General Motors, Volkswagen Group, Toyota, Ford, Harley-Davidson and Aston Martin. Prior to his career in the automotive industry, he worked for ten years in the non-profit sector as President of the Students’ Union at the University of Lapland, Executive Director of the Students’ Union at the University of Kuopio, and as a political aide to a Finnish Member of Parliament.

Rolle has a keen interest in new transport innovations and recently traded in his fully electric Kia Soul for an e-Niro. He hopes to make England a better environment for current EV drivers and actively advocates for the mass adoption of electric vehicles.

Gwynneth Page

Finance Director, drives a BMW i3s and Volvo XC40 Plug-in Hybrid

Gwynneth is a CIMA qualified Finance Director and Chartered Manufacturing Engineer with extensive commercial experience across a variety of sectors that includes PLC and FTSE 100 experience. She brings a combination of financial leadership and CoSec experience, as well as an enthusiasm for the adoption of EVs throughout England.

As part of a larger commitment to a sustainable lifestyle and after test driving several options, Gwynneth made the switch to a BMW i3s.
