We are delighted to welcome long-time volunteer and EV advocate Mazhar (Maz) Shar to its Board of Directors.

Maz brings a wealth of experience in technology and sustainability. With a background in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, he has worked with companies like Dyson and Ocado to develop cutting-edge smart home tech, VR and robotics. As an AI Engineering Manager, he focuses on helping robots better understand the world around them.

As a long-term volunteer for EVA England, Maz worked closely on the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 and created the Constituency EV Map, a tool mapping EV chargers by constituencies, empowering drivers to hold their local decision-makers to account.

Maz’s passion for responsible innovation extends to climate action. Since switching to an electric vehicle in 2019, he has driven over 100,000 miles – about 40,000 of which using only public charging, he estimates – and has used his personal experience to champion better EV infrastructure and adoption. Under the name EpicWinningMaz, he has built a dedicated social media following by sharing data-driven insights and pushing for improvements in the EV space.

Commenting on his appointment, Maz said:

“I’m thrilled to join the board of EVA England, an organisation that has been giving a voice to EV drivers and shaping government legislation.

“As someone who shares EVA England’s passion for electric vehicles and concern about the health and climate impacts of petrol and diesel vehicles, I’m eager to contribute to their mission.”

Chair of the Board, Warren Philips, said:

“Maz Shar has already contributed so much to EVA England as a volunteer and we’re incredibly excited to welcome him in this new role. His technical expertise, combined with his deep understanding of the challenges EV drivers face, will be invaluable to our work as we continue advocating for better charging infrastructure.

”With Maz on board, we’re adding valuable technical expertise and first-hand charging experience to EVA England’s arsenal, as we continue to campaign for more accessible public charging and fairer pricing. His data-led approach and deep understanding of the real-world challenges EV drivers face will help strengthen the organisation’s campaign work.”
